Cybersecurity Analyst
Role Overview
The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for monitoring and responding to security threats, conducting vulnerability
assessments, and ensuring the organization adheres to security best practices. This role plays a critical part in
safeguarding sensitive data, maintaining system integrity, and preventing unauthorized access. The Cybersecurity
Analyst collaborates with IT and security teams to develop and implement proactive security measures.
Key Responsibilities
Threat Monitoring and Response
- Monitor security tools and systems for potential threats, breaches, or anomalies.
- Analyze alerts and incidents, responding promptly to mitigate risks.
- Investigate and document security incidents, providing recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Vulnerability Assessments
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests on systems and networks.
- Identify and prioritize vulnerabilities, working with IT teams to remediate issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
Security Best Practices
- Develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as HIPAA, GDPR, or NIST.
- Promote security awareness among employees through training and communication initiatives.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Work with IT and security teams to design and implement proactive security measures.
- Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and overall security posture.
- Recommend improvements to security tools, technologies, and processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Cybersecurity Analyst or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity tools, frameworks, and best practices.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys) and SIEM platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (certifications like CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
